
Amy Henschell
Psychologist
Amy is an experienced psychologist who has worked across private, public and community-controlled sector roles over the last 15 years. Amy’s approach is to assist clients to feel safe, supported and as comfortable as possible in telling their story in their way. In addition to the presenting issues, Amy considers that the holistic wellbeing of the client is important for life-long health and recovery. Amy is particularly interested in assisting clients identify their own personal strengths in the process of setting and achieving goals for therapy.

Amy works with adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, adjustment issues, addiction, grief and loss, anger issues, work and interpersonal stressors, emotional regulation issues, neurodiversity, psycho-social disability and stress related to chronic health conditions. Amy’s area of expertise is in the treatment of complex trauma and other abuse-related trauma.

Amy has a particular interest in supporting women through pregnancy, the perinatal period and fertility treatment. Amy is trained to deliver the Circle of Security parenting program designed to help parents meet their child’s emotional needs and develop a strong secure bond.

Amy uses a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Schema Therapy.
